Age Well, Take Control – Keep Moving!

Seniors, want to take charge of your health this year? Come out and learn how!

On March 18th at George Pierce Community Recreation Center, an “Age Well, Take Control – Keep Moving” seminar will take place.  The event itself is specifically built for senior citizens, so there will be lots of information specific to your health needs. However, the general public is welcome to stop by.

The health fair will feature fitness activities, educational programs, health screenings and cooking demonstrations. Gwinnett Medical Care-A-Van will be at the park providing mammograms. To receive mammograms, ladies need to bring a prescription or mammogram order from their physician. As well, insurance information must be provided to the medical personnel on staff. All appointments for that day must be made in advance by calling 678.312.3444. This is a great opportunity for you seniors to come out, get some exercise, enjoy the sunshine, and learn more about caring for your body as you age. Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation, Gwinnett Senior Services, and Senior Issues Action Team are sponsoring this event in hopes to help get seniors to improve their health. The event is free, and goes from 9:00am-1:00pm.

If you want to learn more about your body and how to treat it right this upcoming year, head out to George Pierce Park and look around. Even if you don’t spend all day at the event, the park offers lots of other activities. There are over 2.5 miles of paved trails, 1.2 miles of soft surface trail, and a pond. Also, there are grills, pavilions for outdoor lunch, and playgrounds for the kids. You could even make the event a family day, check out the health fair, and then enjoy the rest of the day exploring the park. Be sure to stop by and check it out!
